Given the lead that Biden has over Trump at the moment there will be a lot of worried people in the GOP and on the wider libertarian right. Expect new “revelations” about Biden any moment.

There is a marketing concept which I first heard explained in a pithy phrase on the Today Programme on Radio 4. Given this provenance I feel comfortable to report verbatim. The marketeer explaining the limitations of marketing said “You cannot polish a turd”. This means the GOP are stuck and there only option is to attack the opposition.

The further ahead Joe Biden goes the dirtier the campaign will get. I am certain Joe Biden is no angel. What everyone has to have in mind is who he is opposing. Given his position on alliances with democratic states, climate change, race, social policy, the list goes on, nothing is more important than the defeat of Trump.

Mr Biden has all the hallmarks of a transitional office holder. If he wins the Democrats have a massive job to do to restore and improve upon American democracy. This will be at least a 3 term challenge.
